There are a lot of wedding photographers in Barrie and the GTA. So what makes Raven’s Feather Photography different?
For me, it comes down to one thing: I’m not just photographing what is happening. I’m anticipating what is about to happen.
After photographing hundreds of weddings and important life moments, I’ve developed a pretty strong instinct for those split seconds before something happens — the glance before the laugh, the hand reaching for someone, the emotional reaction that’s about to unfold.
I’m constantly watching (feel free to sing "I always feel like somebody's watching me" hahaha)
I’m looking at people, relationships, body language, light and everything happening around me. I’m often already moving into position before the moment actually happens.
It’s one of the things I receive the most compliments about from my couples and their wedding guests. I’m constantly told that I somehow managed to capture moments they didn’t even realize were happening.
That’s the magic of documentary wedding photography.
Documentary, but never hands-off.
My style is documentary at heart, but that doesn’t mean I simply stand in the background and wait.
I’ll guide you when you need direction, create movement when things feel awkward, help you into beautiful light and give you prompts rather than stiff poses.
Then I step back and let the real moments happen.
The result is a gallery that feels authentic, emotional and completely yours — with a little editorial magic mixed in.
I want you to recognize yourself.
Beautiful photographs are important. But looking at a photograph and actually remembering how that moment felt? That’s what I’m after.
The nervous laugh. The ugly cry. The ridiculous dance move. The quiet five minutes alone together. Your grandmother laughing. Your friends completely losing it on the dance floor.
Those are the photographs that bring you back.
Whether you’re planning a wedding in Barrie, the GTA, elsewhere in Ontario or somewhere completely different, my approach stays the same:
Document the real. Create the beautiful. Anticipate the moments. Tell your story.
Because your wedding photographs shouldn’t just show you what your day looked like.
They should remind you exactly how it felt.
